In 2021, Mt. Zion Apostolic Church in Indianapolis, Indiana (founded 1922) and Greater Apostolic Faith Temple in Detroit, Michigan ( founded 1972), officially became one church under the name Kingdom Apostolic Ministries (KAM).

The journey toward this union began in March 2020, when the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic, bringing widespread restrictions on public gatherings. Like churches around the world, Mt. Zion and Greater Apostolic temporarily closed their buildings and transitioned to virtual worship through livestreamed services, creating what became known as “eChurch.”

During this period the two churches, already under the shared pastoral leadership of Bishop Lambert W. Gates, Sr., began to further align their operations, systems, and stewardship practices. As the congregations grew increasingly connected, the opportunity for greater efficiency, unity, and shared vision became clear. Through prayer, strategic planning, and legal consultation, the decision was made to formally unite the two congregations.

The merger was announced through an official news release, and the name Kingdom Apostolic Ministries was unveiled during the New Year’s Eve Watch Night Service on December 31, 2020. The official union took effect January 1, 2021.

Today, Kingdom Apostolic Ministries embraces a multisite vision that allows the ministry to establish campuses wherever God leads. Mt. Zion and Greater Apostolic became the ministry’s legacy campuses, while eChurch—now known as the Global Campus—and KAM Marion became the first additional campuses, serving through an online platform and a physical location in Marion, Indiana, respectively. Although the Marion campus has since completed its season of ministry, its contribution remains an important part of KAM’s story of growth and outreach. The vision continued to expand with the grand opening of the Atlanta (Jonesboro), Georgia, campus in 2024, further extending the ministry’s reach beyond its legacy campuses.

 

Kingdom Apostolic Ministries continues to build on a collective legacy spanning more than a century, carrying the life-changing message of Jesus Christ to communities near and far and to the world.
